Elsie’s History
Elsie's cottage circa 1916 is named after the youngest granddaughter of Joseph and Alice Dixon - Pioneers of the Sunshine Coast and its hinterland. This extraordinary piece of real estate on a private escarpment has stayed in the family for 3 generations.
A wonderful, rich family history is documented and preserved for the Dixon Family. Now, the Great Great Grandson and his family have moved into the area and in 2023 they jumped at the chance to purchase Elsie’s and have decided to offer the newly renovated cottage for short term stays. The house block was originally part of a 330 acre selection in 1881.
Elsie and her husband Clive Blair made a family home of the cottage after military service during WW2 and made initial renovations. They were integral members of the Montville and Flaxton communities and to this day are well remembered by them.
Furniture has been carefully chosen to create a harmonious, elegant and relaxing space - removing internal walls in the main living zones allows the view to become center stage from within. There are some special pieces of an Australian antique furniture collection that Elsie was passed down from the family home of her grandparents, located close-by and built itself in 1905 which have been used in the design.
